Pan Grilled Tofu Salad with Honey Jalapeno Dressing

Folks, I’m super excited to share this salad with you all, one that involves crispy tofu, is light and fresh and won’t make you feel like crap. I made a honey based savory dressing to go with this salad, you can also use hot sauce or any other dressing of your choice. No restrictions here!! You can add any veggies and greens to the salad, I used whatever I had on hand (kale, carrots and tomato).

Tofu Salad
Ingredients
1 Block Firm Tofu
1 Teaspoon Olive Oil
2-3 Cloves Garlic, minced
1/2 Jalapeno, minced
1/2 Teaspoon Organic Honey
1/2 Teaspoon Organic Soy Sauce
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1 Carrot, noodles or julienne
1 Tomato, cubed
1 Cup Kale or any other Greens of your choice (spinach, chard, mix)
1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice

Process

  1. Drain the tofu and cut it horizontally into 2 and cut each horizontal slice into 4 pieces. Place a couple of paper towels down on a plate or cutting board and lay out your tofu. Remove the excess moisture from tofu by pressing it lightly with few paper towels.
  2. Heat a cast iron or a flat skillet on medium heat and coat it with the olive oil. Add tofu to the heated skillet and cook until golden brown and crispy, approximately 5-6 mins on each side. Set the Tofu aside when done.
  3. To make the sauce: in a shallow pan, mix garlic, Jalapeno, honey, soy sauce, salt and pepper with a teaspoon of water and bring to a boil.Reduce the heat to medium and let it cook for another minute or two until the sauce is glossy and has reduced slightly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, add kale, carrots noodles, tomato and drizzle a little bit of olive oil and lemon juice and mix well.
  5. Add the salad mix on serving platter, arrange grilled Tofu and drizzle the sauce over Tofu.

Enjoy! 🙂
